Inspired by the enchantingly beautiful pearl collection of Queen Olga's Constantinovna of Russia's pearl brooch, The impressive Edwardian style brooch is beautifully crafted with 925 Sterling Silver. The freshwater pearl is dangled at the end of every tassel. The tassel of the brooch catches the light with every gesture. It will be your favourite jewelry piece worn on any occasion.
This brooch is inspired from Queen Olga's Pearl and Diamond Devant de Corsage.
The Devant de Corsage, with its entwining ribbon and scroll patterns and cushion-shaped diamonds, is accentuated with three large white pearls and twelve pear-shaped pearls hanging from rows of diamonds.
The brooch was originally worn by Queen Olga of Greece, who received many exquisite jewels from her Romanov relatives for her 1867 wedding. This is evident in a portrait from the early 20th century.
After Queen Olga's death in 1926, Prince George, her son, inherited the Pearl and Diamond Devant de Corsage, which was worn by Princess Marie Bonaparte, his wife. This magnificent work of art graced important events such as Princess Eugenie's 1938 wedding in Paris and Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip of Greece's 1947 wedding ball.
The pearl and diamond brooch was eventually inherited by Princess Eugenie and ended up in the possession of her younger son, Prince Carlo Alessandro della Torre e Tasso, the 3rd Duke of Castel Duino. In the end, it was put up for auction in 2010 at the Geneva Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels Sale.
